Benefits of Remedial Massage

Posted 11 Oct 2021

Remedial Massage has many benefits, whether it be for an athlete at any level or the general population. These benefits are often physical, however, there can be an element of mental and psychological benefit as well.

Some of these benefits include:

  • Decreased tension in muscle tissue
  • Decreased fascial tension
  • Improved joint mobility
  • Improved flexibility
  • Reduced stress levels
  • Increased mental alertness
  • Faster healing of soft tissue injuries

Remedial Massage aims to improve circulation and stimulate the lymphatic system, helping to rid the body of nasty toxins and waste products.  It also allows more oxygen and nutrients to circulate around the body, improving recovery and healing within the tissues. This form of massage can benefit many types of people including the elderly and pregnant, and aid in the rehabilitation and recovery of many injuries.

There are different techniques that can be used as part of a Remedial Massage treatment, such as:

  • Soft tissue massage
  • Deep tissue massage
  • Cross fibre frictions
  • Longitudinal stripping
  • Pin and stretch
  • Passive/Active release
  • Trigger point therapy

The techniques listed above can be used on different muscles around the body. Your therapist will assess which technique is best suited to a particular area and which technique is going to give you the most beneficial results – this will vary from person to person.

At S.P.I.N. Health & Fitness we provide Remedial Massage appointments of varying times (30min, 45min & 60min), to ensure you have the most effective and efficient treatment possible for your specific treatment goals.

Everyone is different, and therefore each treatment is tailored to your individual needs.
